Crewman fuel guage tuning help...

Post by Gareth »

Hi all,
long time reader, first time poster, so please excuse the noob mistakes.

Long story short, we had a customers vz crewman come in for a rwc, but had no maf, i have tech2 with delco tds access. So the answer is simple, flash the pcm with the latest factory software, refit a maf and done right? Because the software is current it wont overwrite, so no go (id love to know a way around that) replace the pcm with one from a sedan wreck (which is where the problem begins) turn off vats with hp tuners and we are all go, except the fuel guage is horribly optomistic about how much fuel is left... No worries, tech2 and carry out sps and when it asks to check vin, input the correct vin for car, tried this a few times and bounces me out saying something to the effect of "hardware mismatch" (same part number pcm fitted).
You probably said a few lines back, why dont you use your hp tuners to reinstate the maf, well i would but, the original pcm is tuner locked...
Surely there is a simple solution for this, any advise would be greatly appreaciated.

Biggvl

Hi, is it ls1 or E38?
have you put the correct VIN into the new pcm's tune with hptuners? I know the VIN in the pcm's memory plays a part in the bcm - pcm link.

Hi jayme,

Its the ls1, i changed the vin with hp to match the car and still comes up with "harware missmatch"

If you read the pcm with tech2 it shows the correct vin now.

I wonder if sps with tech2 looks at the bcm for flashing approval?

I have vats off....
