11P Running a Ford 4.0L and BTR Transmission.

Post by diyhacker »

Hey people.

I have managed to get the 11P 1.03 running on a 4L falcon and the transmission controlled also.

i mostly done this conversion to give some more support for the boosted applications or hot n/a engines that the that run into the terrible dreaded wall of the lack of datalogging (NONE) and ve tables on the factory ecu's. all the speed density based ecu's only read up to atmosphere, then boost fuel control is based off the last cells and a r/r reg (very dodgy).

Summing it up i have a xd falcon reluctor dizzy with all the mechanical advance and vac advance locked and the drive cog spun upside down, and a JB Camira module.
Yes i could of kept the hall effect sensor with the v8 ignition system but the new aftermarket ones are fairly pricey and don't seem to last as long as the old Bosch units so the dizzy conversion seemed more viable.

The auto was not too bad to make work. i modified the original range switch to simulate the manifold switches on the valve body of the 4l60e. i had to fit a BA Falcon internal wiring harness as the early btr switched power to the solenoids not earth. The shift solenoid sequence is identical to the btr. i grounded s3 and s4 to keep them powered, set the force motor current to suit the btr (its not very far off straight up) and s7 had to be switched through a pnp transistor to power the lockup solenoid as it is earthed on the back of the pump on all the btr transmissions.
The speedo was pretty easy, all the fords run a hall effect transducer so i could not just pull it out as the cluster and cruise control etc would not work. so i just intercepted the transducer feed that was meant to go to the ecu and conditioned it with a simple cap to make it a sine wave.
I have made a billet idle control block that fits on the factory throttle body to run the gm icv. and the rest is pretty straight forward.

Now i have a good question. has anyone attempted to try tune a 11P on tps only? I.E multiple throttle bodies? I have a customer that has a speed way car with 6 throttle bodies that is interested in trying out one on his car. otherwise i will be installing a high end aftermarket ecu.

I will get photos up when photobucket decides to work :comp:

P.S im a dyno tuner and transmission builder if anyone needs a hand with anything.

Cheers Gavin

nice conversion mate good to see another ford on delco gear :P. you could run the speedway car with a map if you make a vacuam manifold connecting all the inlets to the map

i know i could do that that via a vac rail but the reaction is of the pressure change is a tad slow. and they dont tend to pull much vac (70 -80 kpa at idle with the cams there running these days).

low idle vac is no drama plenty of people on here with cams making next to no idle vac.hell for speedway you could just run it with the map with no hose on ive run one like that ran pretty good too accellerated from idle better than with a map connected and sounded so cammed it wasnt funny at idle LOL

Awesome, thanks for posting the info. Once 11P is released (which should be this version unless bugs are found) will have to get this thread public, sounds like a great conversion for the ford guys.

There is code space and was planning on adding an alpha-n mode to 11p, but there are so many map related operations it may take awhile to get the code working. Its on the to do list though.

If you have some info on the pressure control solenoid of A340E/A341E gearboxes would be very grateful. I was planning on logging a factory Toyota vehicle to get an idea of the DC and how its managed (I think it differs from the gm gbox in that the solenoid is only controlled during the shift?).

Sounds good bloke. I have a factory 100 series cd at work. Just a 1fz-fe engine?
