Mongoose Pro GM - Worth it?

Post by Tazzi »

Iv been looking to get myself a New vci module for the tech2 for a while. And figured while Im at it might as well get a spare CANDI module (since it takes ages to boot up.. not sure if thats a sign its dying!) and also a main test cable. It all just adds up to spending a few hundred. So makes me think might as well spend another $100 and get a brand new unit!
But then leaves me with this unit again which I want to fix.. (endless cycle)

Soooo, who has a Mongoose pro? Does it work flawlessly with Tech2win? SPS? GSD2? Any downfalls?
Its a good $600 for the mongoose, then another $110 for shipping. So an expensive little bugger all up. But, for reliability.. and *future* proofing. Im wondering if its just going to be a smarter option to just bite the bullet and invest into this?

I looked into getting an MDI module, but, seems to be too many horry stories unless purchasing the $600+ units which seem to work perfectly.. but then thats the price of the Mongoose!

*Oh yeah cant forget... Aussie aussie aussie oi oi oi!

Bugger, thats got me stumped now. Can either try use a "good" clone MDI module which I would hope supports all the protocols. Or stick with the known working Mongoose cable Without ALDL.

Hmmm...

I've had a look at both and am leaning towards an MDI as most of my stuff is still aldl based.
Same issue though, which Chinese supplier to try :wtf:

Yep, with such large price differences between some suppliers.. makes you wonder if there really is a difference or not!

I have been debating about what to buy for too long now & thinking if we can find a descent supplier maybe we could get a better price & product if we do a group buy?
I have a feeling the MDI doesn't do tech2win or some of the older software does it, as thats why the brought them in to stop those old wares being hacked/mis-used?

Very tempted to pick one up now.

Looks like you can even go wireless if you add in the wireless card (only if the unit actually has the slot)

I see the Chines have the Mangoose out now but their not listing a GM one yet. All the others are around $30 to $40 mark plus postage.
Gotta laugh their designed by Drew Tech? Not Drew Technologies. You can view them on here http://www.uobd2.net/search/?q=mangoose&DirID=

Yeah I saw that.
Got very excited until I saw there were no GM ones.

Hopefully one of these MDI units works. If not, its mongoose all the way.
