Ls1 conversion wiring help needed

Post by vp304 »

Hey guys doing a ls1 conversion into my vp calais.

Got some questions maybe some of the gurus on here can help me.

Motor is standard ls1 with a turbo 400. Have screwed on the t700 speedo sender and have it running the factory speedo. (Car had 304 and turbo 400 fitted in past life)

How do i got about taking the single wire t700 speedo signal and feeding it into the ls1 ecu? ( i see the ls1 ecu has a high and low wire for the vss signal ?

I have a spare vdo and dakoda digital speedo corrector if that is of any benifit.

2nd problem is on the yb62 connector under the dash next to the ecu there is a yellow black wire that goes to pin a2 on the aussie 8 ecu for the trip computer. Im guessing without this my trip computer wont work?
What can i do here ?

There is another similar thread running that may answer your question.

LS1 uses different speed signal a 2 wire reluctor. Need a signal converter.

Dont always need a conversion box to convert a hall to reluctor.

Wire the PCM low input to gnd (I think LS1 PCMs already are tied to gnd on the PCB so check the resistance first, might not need to do this but wont hurt if you do). The T700 speedo output needs a 1K pullup resistor to 12V and then wire to the PCM high input via a 100nF capacitor.

Should be able to then setup the PCM to read the correct speed

Cant find the 1k pull up resistor on jaycar or rs site. Prob just searching for it wrong.

The cap has negative side which way does it go ?

sorry about all the questions just doing everything myself on my ls1 swap and trying to get as much as i can working 100% straight of the bat

I wonder if the sender inside the box could be swapped out for late model one?
Ive heard of it being done think maybe it was Holden202T?
Some people with rhe T56 swap that out for T5 speedo ring and pick up as well.

It can be swapped out and i think you press the insides (reluctor wheel i think its called) of a 4l60e onto the th400 etc output shaft.

Couple of components little bit of soldering by the look of it and i should be laughing
lot easier than stripping rear half of th400 pressing of old wheel/gear etc etc.
