Hello peeps, before I go on aplogies if this thread is in the wrong section or long winded.
I am quite new to this caper however I need to make a start as the engine is now complete and ready to run in.
Here is my delimma...........After a good read of many threads on here I have a basic idea of what is required to get my motor running......but there seems to so many opportunities that can enhance fitment into the car.
I have built a 308, stroked to 5.8 (Same as HSV stroked motor from VR/S) the exceptions being a slightly higher comp and aftermarket cam crane 286
I have collected various ECM/PCMs and some memcals to use but would appreciate your feedback/advice pros/cons with what I have so far (or what I should get) taking into account my wish list also.
Wishlist: Be able to switch between two cals without removing or replacing memcals - ie via remote switch if possible
Be able to monitor/log while engine running
Make changes to memcals
Hardware: 808 ECMs (x2), 424 and 480? modded see pics below.
Memcals: 3 off ( I can only id one atm VR5.0 Man BJKS) #3
Software: Tunerpro RT, and various monitoring software that I have successfully used on PC to monitor ECM/PCM and various other modules
Is this enough info to open a discussion and get me on the write track. Please feel free to comment. All responses would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. Cheers, Arch

check the list on http://www.memcals.com it will help identify memcals and ecm's what models they suit.
Nv ram in the for sale section is capable of storing two maps and switching between them and live tuning with tunerpro rt and ose12p is a base code suitable for all vn vp auto and manual and vr vs manual computers
Have a read through different sections of this site you will find it most helpful.

Re: Some help needed- Holden 5.8 Man
easy answers first, the memcals:
1. BPYR1417 $51 3.8L Auto 16199728 VS start of production - (2-wire O2)
2. can't read the code on it but http://memcals.com/rcc_info_memcals.html should be able to id it for you.
probably the easiest way to achieve what you want would be with the 808 with a realtime kit .... then use $12P which gives you two tables switchable for spark and fueling etc .... also the realtime board has a jumper on it than can be setup to be externally switched which effectively allows you to switch between 2 seperate bin files on the one chip ......
if you have a hydraulic auto/manual this will be fine, if you have an electronic auto that may dictate what you do for computer.

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!
