any base tunes for vp manual turbo
any base tunes for vp manual turbo
Ive recently swapped motors over and i was wondering i bought a turbo kit cause ive always wanted to have boost and thought i found a kit and took the chance
Now does anyone or know anyone that has or have done a base tune for a dead stock vr motor with aftermarket injectors, aftermarket fuelpump and running a tdo4e turbo with a front mount intercooler
Plus not sure how much boost i should run depending on the tune?
I also have a rising fuel reg help and a custom manifold with a front facing throttle body
Please someone that can help me

first of all is it v6 or v8? what injectors have you got for it? do you have realtime gear (nvram ) installed? are you running ose12p or a factory code at the moment?
Re: any base tunes for vp manual turbo
My vp is a v6 manual
Yes i have the realtime gear installed with a wideband gauge
Im running a tune in it now its a 12p i think 808
The tune is from vlad
The injectors are confirmed yet but they are anodised blue

download the advanced tuning guide (link in my signature), it gives you a run down on what you need to do for boost.
you need to find out the size of the injectors and offset your tune to suit that, the good news is with all the gear you have and $12P already your 3/4 the way there.
as for what a stock motor can handle who knows, if its a VR motor it will have more comp than VP so that will mean less boost, also depends what your injectors can deliver, but I'd say 10-15 psi should be ok.

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

yeah I'd say if you don't lean it out you should be able to safely run 10-15psi ....
start on 5psi and safe tune and slowly work up to it is the key to not killing it, plenty of people pushing 15-18psi through stock v6's

Re: any base tunes for vp manual turbo
not necessarily, boost is a function of load, if there is enough load to require boost it will happen, but generally speaking you'll probably go up most hills without going to boost.
I have a 1.6ltr petrol turbo holden cruze, it cruises at 2400rpm at 110kms, and it starts to make boost about 1700rpm, there are times on hills it does make boost but it still gets really good fuel economy because 1. its not needing a lot of boost and 2. its a very small percentage of the time
don't think of boost as a fuel guzzler! if the tune is right it will be well powerful and economical to boot! (provided you don't lay the right boot in too often)

Keep timing low and she should live a happy life. Every time you want to raise boost just creep it in 1psi at a time and start with fat fuel then lean it out to a safe target to build power
Re: any base tunes for vp manual turbo
Yer ive been talking to delcowizzid and he told me with the turbo i have i wont be making the proper power i make with a t70 Chinese turbo but in another hand ive got all the supportinv mods for it just need to get the map sensor and maybe if i get a chance upgrade the turbo and hope for the best
I dont want full on power but i want basically whatever i can make safely and reliable i dont tend to boot it around
