That's going to fuck with vlads head lol. I thought it would've made a bit more of a difference especially when they bent every pipe ? Was a strange motor to test it on though ?

at the end of the day the volume and length of them didn't change much so it makes sense not to make a huge difference.

It is an interesting test, however before doing that they first should have tested to find the optimal exhaust header size. It may well be that those headers were oversized for the job at hand so crimping the pipe sizes down wouldn't actually hurt.
Funny thing is, a local engine builder here did a similar experiment with the full exhaust system comparing a full mandrel bent system to a standard compressed bend system and he came to the same conclusion, no need to waste your money building the full mandrel bend system.

the crimping in effect could cause the gas to speedup or slowdown, like entering a smaller pipe or larger pipe, also im guessing if you could know where on each header pipe a complete cylinder worth of gas would fillup to then the placement of the crimp could also have a play in it's effect.
