Dallas 1245Y-100 problem

Post by VX L67 Getrag »

Hey Guys just wondering is there anything I have to do to set up new NV Sram Dallas 1245y-100?

I just bought 5 new 1's (expensive ish-$20 each delivered), but there the same as kalmaker so I know they work & there quick!

But just trying to load a bin on any of the 5 for the first time & it won't do it, it will read the info off it, but wont write my cal file to it!

I got some AMD 1's from moates & there slow but worked straight up, but just took 5 times the time to write to it, so my guess is they will be slow when real time tuning too?

Any help or ideas will be great!

Thanks VX L67 Getrag :wall:

Be wary of the cheap ones as they are normally counterfeit and have many problems. I bought some awhile ago after finding them for well under half the cost of what i was paying and had the same problem as you are having now, after contacting maxim they told me they had no record of the serial numbers on the ones i had. If the part number is DS1245Y-100+ and there is no picture of a bin with an X through it (they have lithium inside so need to be disposed of properly) then you most likely have counterfeit ones.

Thanks VL400,

Your spot on no bin with an X through it, I had to look at your for sale items to see what your talking about!

What are these chips worth by themselves, as I thought $20 Aud was expensive!

Thank god I bought it through eBay & with paypal, another open dispute now! lol

Depending on where you get them from and how many you buy anywhere from $50-100 - they can be cheaper but your talking lots of a thousand. They are not cheap but have been reliable.

I would contact maxim through their website (they got back to me within a day or two) and quote the manufacturing number - will be something like 0943C xxxxxx (the 09 is year, the 43 is week and then the x digits are batch i think). I sent them pictures and they were going to chase up the company I bought them from - this was over two years ago and the same company still sells the same counterfeit products so obviously not chased up very well!

WELL! Maxim have since got back to me & say they could be there own!
But were built in 1999 & batteries would be dead by now!
Seems weird why they don't have the same markings(like bin with a cross through it), but I guess maybe back then they didn't print on them the same!

Thanks for the info, the company I bought them through was something like advanced computer products(acp surplus), just found they have refunded my money, wow that was quick I only messaged them back 1/2 an hour ago!

So best supplier to get them from is, or is there another chip to use thats nearly as good & not quite as expensive?

Yep, the label has changed. If they are 99 models the part number will be DS1245Y-100 and no picture of the bin. The current part number is DS1245Y-100+, the + is to say they are ROHS compliant.

Digikey in the US is good. Or you can buy direct from maxim.

Glad you got it all sorted

Whenever power is not applied they use an internal lithium power source, the memory is basically a RAM chip with a small battery to keep the contents. This is not rechanrgable and has a min life of 10 years.

The date code gives you an idea of how long you have left - the 0943C in the above post.

They also dont use the battery until first use, but after that you cant stop it even if you put it in to storage, so new parts are safer from this point of view also.
