Battery volts vs volts at pink wire on delco

Post by Nitro Worms »

I'm about to start tuning o holden v8 conversion and i have 14.3 volts at battery just after cold start and only seeing 13.5 at the pink wire in diagnostic port near ecu.

Under high engine bay temp conditions i am only getting 12.8 volts at the pink wire in diagnostic port.
And just over 13 bolts at battery.
Is this normal or should i be looking at alternator replacement or battery relocation away from heat or perhaps even running a larger wire through a relay and using the existing pink wire as the relay exciter?

What sort of volts are others getting at battery and ecu hot?
Thanks.

Starting from scratch using a stock 12p tune... When the engine has much larger than stock injecters, namely 80lb siemens, what is the easiest way to set up the injecter bias vs battery voltage values? Is it standard procedure to try to get the engine up to say 1500rpm at steady state afr and then simply disconnect the alt wire and turn all thermos and cab heaters, headlights etc on and slowly tweek the injector voltage table? Or is there a better way? Because that was my next step i was going to try to do.
Thanks

That is one way or try and find some specs from the manufacturer. Holden 202T posted some once for them on here. Maybe find them and see. He did have trouble once where it was out when volts were low.

Yeah, the volt from cold to hot are causing problems in this car, namely going lean after heatsoak, the volts are dropping a lot.

The alternator is tucked in tight on drivers side and copping all the hot air from radiator and the battery is swollen on hot side as it is right there in close too which doesnt help the voltages staying consistent. It's in a hilux 4x4

Some heat shielding for that battery and possibly the wiring loom might be a good idea.

Your not the first person to have heat management issues with an engine transplant in a Hilux.

this stuff works fairly well Cool It - express sleeves

I've battled the heat for 4years, has 2 radiators now with one under tray as well as one up front. I've just removed 400hp from engine bay by taking the turbo off and going back to aspirated. Was fun but too dangerous with wheels spinning over 100km/hr and always breaking things. So now it now be taken off the drag strip and just used to tow my tinny.
I had an account on here ages ago bur couldnt remember my loggins (v8hilux) so created a new account yesterday.

Yeah you would have trouble I once tried deka 60's on stock data and it was terrible. Find my thread it might have the data for the 80's.
