VX Ecotec PCM in VT L67

Post by SRogers1993 »

Gday, i would like to use the vx flashed based pcm in my VT L67 i was wondering what would be needed in the tuning area to get the car to run can i just straight flash it with a VT L67 Tune and call it a day or will i have to modify the VX Ecotec tune to suit the l67, i have made up the harness for the wiring, i wont be using the boost control solenoid so that wont have to be wired up,

Thanks in Advance

You cant run the vt tune as is, the flash computer is incompatible. The1s enhanced code on the flash pcm should be able to run the engine but i expect you will have other problems eg dash due to other devices in the car being different. Your probably better off with the stock computer and a pcm nvram with the1s enhanced code as it will work properly, be realtime tunable and be able to handle more boost etc depending on your plans.

VX enhanced on the L67 ecu with PCMNVRAM and OBD USB comms is what you want. Bloody great set up

Don't bother with a larger maf until later when you have more mods like an intercooler. Stock maf is great

Ok so i am doing to use the L67 ECU but i took a chip out of the VX ecu Part number am29f010-120je 1 Megabit (128 K x 8-bit) CMOS 5.0 Volt-only, Uniform Sector Flash Memory which is the flash chip for the VX, Im going to make up a board to mount it into the VT L67 Ecu Socket, it has the same pin-outs (32 and all pin affixes correct) just in a PLCC chip not a DIP i just believe this eliminates the need for a CMOS battery due to it being flash based, not sram, and if all goes well with no problems would i be able to do the following, Yes/no answers are fine
1. Live Tuning (OSEPlugin for Tunerpro 5 Correct?)
2. Hit (Bubble) Tracing
3. Flash Simply With The FlashTool The VXL67 The 1's Enhanced Tune and Modify

Or will it all end up failing and ill be back to square one.
If you do not know the answers please dont take a stab in the dark and lead me down a lost path if it has never been done before i would happily update how it goes.
Here is the datasheet for the am29f010-120je out of the VX

It will run the car but none of your other points will work. Ram is required for 1. 2 depends what you mean, hardware address access needs special hardware, bubble tracing in a cell depends on the xdf. Ii think the enhanced code has it, if not its easy enough to add. 3 is a no, the hardware platform is not supported. You will be able to log data, edit offline and flash the chip in a standard burner then refit to pcm and run the car. Essentially its the same as the1s eeprom board with a different physical case.

Have a read of the guides in the FAQ (link near top right) which should get you started. It'll be a flag. You do want to process code but dont want to light CEL.
