This is NOT for the feint of heart. You will need to be able to solder 1.27 mm spacing SMD terminals with out damaging a plastic header or causing damage to the Pcm's circuit board that has other parts mounted in close proximity.

Since this material is not aimed at inexperienced users I'm not going to give a blow by blow and I'm going to assume your able to lift a flash chip with out damage.

This consists of 4 parts.

#1 The socket - TSOP 44 to 2.54mm DIP mounting. There are a number of brands/companies that make these. This is just an example of the type of socket used.

#2 The Adapter board - This is the real key to making this work. This board converts the 2.54mm pin spacing on the socket to the same pitch as the flash chip's 1.27mm spacing.

#3 The female header - any female header that's at least 2x22 with 1.27 spacing and L type pads will work. This is the type of header I used.

#4 The cheapest and easiest way to attach directly to the pcm is with a Road Runner header. They are a bit pricey but it's a whole lot less headache then other methods I've used to do this with.

The hardest part of all this was soldering the plastic female header to the adapter pcb. The header can be hard to get to sit flat and make good contact so I would advise soldering one and then pull it apart by force and see how well everything held up.

So pics of the parts and I test fit them and assembled everything.
