That cable up there is good old laplink. I remember the parallel port linked 4 pins that could send to 4 that could receive so you could push half a byte at a time and gain more speed linking 2 devices than you could over the serial options of the day. When 10base-T co-ax network gear was expensive and you didnt have it laplink with the parallel cable was the go to solution for speed copying between 2 local computers.

hahaha yeah used to use parrallel port links all the time with xtreelink!

Parallel was pretty quick, the serial cables were handy with the DB9 And DB25 At each end although they were more useful for linking 2 computers for multiplayer Doom or Duke Nukem 3D
