Weird memcal problem

Post by stocky »

I've noticed something weird with my memcal/eeprom. When I remove the eeprom, plug it into my burner, I have no problems reading it. When I leave the eeprom in the memcal, and hook the memcal up to the burner, it reads it, but the data is all messed up. The adapter is just an L shaped IDE style connector with long legs, and i've checked continuity of all of them. Couldn't see any problem. What would cause this corrupt data? I checked continuity between the top of the legs on the eeprom, to the bottom of the leg of my adapter, and everything was fine.

what about resistance, if there is more on one leg than another the burner might not like it.

Hmm possibly, since its an L shape, the legs on one side are longer than the other. Would probably increase resistance?

I have that occasionally, if one pin is bent slightly on the adapter it doesnt connect. I tend to close the zif then force the adapter round a bit to scrape off the shit and make contact.

also, I wonder is your chip one of those funny ones thats pin swapped in the memcal? 28c something
