P10 OS 12595726 will not read
I am brand new to working with vehicle PCM's. I have a 2005 Trailblazer EXT 4.2L that I recently replaced the motor with one from a donor vehicle. The donor vehicle was the same year and model, just the next trim package up. I used the original PCM from my TB, and it has been running great. Only a recurring evap code I'll address on my own in the future, and a little problem with VATS that has seemed to clear up when PCM Hammer cleared codes. I just had to run the relearn procedure again after.
Anyway, I have a spare PCM now, so I thought "What a great time to learn a little vehicle programming!" So I did some researching, got a J2534 tool and PCM Hammer, and plugged in. I was able to read the OS ID, which is its own conundrum, but when I went to read the PCM, I ran into an issue. I have tried quite a few times and a few different procedures, including disconnecting the battery for hours, pulling all TBC fuses to make sure it wasn't getting in-between the PCM and the OBDII port somewhere, power cycling the PCM using the battery and using the fuses, letting the PCM initialize for a full minute before connecting, etc...I am attempting to do this with the PCM in the vehicle, as I am only attempting to read the PCM at this point. The plan was to read my .bin and use it on the donor PCM and voila, I have a hard backup if I break anything in my learning process.
I was already in a little over my head to begin with, but add the fact that I can only find my OS listed on the internet ONE time, and that ONE time was on a post in a P12 Topic in this forum, has driven me to reach out. I originally registered so that I could get some help with an XDF for my OS or an alternative OS compatible with my PCM, but it looks like that will be my secondary purpose here now.
TLDR - PCM Hammer cannot read my PCM from my '05 TB 4.2L with a P10 PCM. It comes back as read failed no matter what I do. I am attempting to read the PCM while still installed in the vehicle. My OS ID (12595726) appears to not be addressed anywhere online. I am attaching the Debug and Results logs from one of the attempts. I did try doing it without x4 speed selected and logged that as well if you want me to post it too. Any help getting my PCM read would be GREATLY appreciated.

What interface is this? Can you try at 1x?

I did try that as well. Here are those results.

Does that interface work for the P01 or the P59? What interface is it? It could be that the interface is failing to transmit the large kernel packet. Or it could be something else. I understand P10 is working, but mine is in this state and I have not done it myself. I need to make a bench loom before I can test. It is something I want to do, its just a matter of time.

Sorry, what do you mean by interface? I'm using PCM Hammer through the vehicle's OBD2 wiring as i dont have a bench harness yet.

[04:07:19:774] Initializing J2534 Device
[04:07:20:621] Loaded DLL
Looks like a j2534 device. We need to know more about the device connected between car and PC being used.

10-4. It is a USB to OBDII.
The brand is Godiag. Model GD101.

That is your problem ...I6phox wrote:10-4. It is a USB to OBDII.

That VCI is incompatible, it does not adhere to the J2534 Specification as claimed!

As soon as kur4o said that I feared that's what the break in the chain was. Thank you. I'll update the results when I use a more reputable device.

Depending on what you want, need and your desires are, my recommendations would be one of the following ...
This has been my favorite low cost VCI above all PERIOD: Best quality For GM MDI Scan tool with WIFI V2023.07
Note that I say low cost, because my ultimate favorite is the Bosch MasterTech II
However it is not low cost, it is however available from many places so competition shop for best price!
However the fairly new OBDXPro brand VCI's are climbing the success ladder quickly: OBDX Pro
Either the OBDX Pro GX or OBDX Pro VX depending on your needs and desires.
