vt v6 auto turbo... 2bar and or mafless?

Post by mattyc »

hey guys,

have got a mate that has just got together his vt v6 turbo, it has 42 or 44 pound injectors fitted, and wants to run 12psi boost,

the questions are, can the ecu be mafless tuned? and also can we go 2 bar map?

has anyone else touched a turbo 6 before? cause I'm thinking if an aftermarket ecu is needed, most likely will need like a vn auto, thats non electronic.

idea's anyone?

At this stage the only people I am aware of with a mafless tune for the VT V6 are kalmaker.
While it maybe an expensive option, so is an aftermarket ECU, as it needs to output info on the bus for low speed fans and some of the instrument cluster info.
Would love to see something like OSE12 for the VT V6/V8 to go mafless, but I think this is a long way off yet.

so, was thinking, what about running either a vr auto ecu? then i would have map and be able to run electronic auto,

or use 2x ecus, vt to run everything but fuel and spark, and use a vn 808 to run the outputs for the engine?

also can i run 2bar and boost ok with the 808?

A VR auto will run your engine + the gearbox, but not your dashboard. also there is no free 2 bar option for the VR auto, youd have to buy kalmaker. an 808 can run $12P and 2 or 3 bar fine but im not sure if you will be able to duplicate some of the sneros inputs without actually running 2 sensors. not to mention the stock VT ecu will have a heart attack when you take the MAF away and may not even run the gearbox properly. but then again, ive heard of aftermaerket piggyback like computers doing this, im sure with some effort and determination youd be able to get something like that going.

EDIT: I know you want to go mafless, but I still think the easiest option will be to run a VT L67 bin, and get a 74mm MAF, and tune the injector constant and MAF scalers to suit that. thats what ill be doing if I go turbo on my ecotec.
