NVRam Emulating Not Live Flashing

Post by Rhysk94 »

More often then not when emulating I am always getting write failed. Using a Envyous customs aldl cable for reference.
Had it happen to 2x customer cars on the dyno yesterday continuously on a fair few tables consistantly and on previous cars before also.
Anyone have any idea's where I might be going wrong?
Happens if the car is running or just the key on, program restarted, chip in and out etc etc.
Cheers you bloody legends!

I spent a few hours tuning on a L67 today and it was totally stable, even had the owner knock the cable out of the OBD2 port at one stage, he plugged it back in and it carried on working like nothing happened. Using Tunerpro V5.00.9827 and OSE plugin V1.80 with PCM hacking ALDL cable with The1's Enhanced tunes.

cant say for sure whats going on there, but the plugin is designed to work with pcmhacking aldl cables, which have different hardware (more RFI protection) and different chipset (FTDI) which has slightly different timing implementation, it may be possible to tune buffer timings for the chip in the other cable (windows driver level) if its not RFI or other electrical noise problem in the car.

Ahh, I might order a pcmhacking aldl cable.
Happens too frequently and really slows things up haha

Suitable for applications with ALDL available on pin 9 of an OBD port.

For Engine and 4L60E transmission logging, or realtime tuning on NVRAM equipped vehicles this includes:
VR to VY Commodores, except LS1 V8.

This cable is still good for limited body functionality on VY and VZ with LS1 or L98 V8 engines.

Design
The interface is the latest revision of VL400s design, which includes a genuine FTDI chip, signal filtering and regeneration.

The included USB cable includes a ferrite bead for maximum noise immunity (often required when being used near big sparks, such as boost applications or a misfiring engine).

In the kit
1x USB ALDL Cable
1x Shielded USB cable with ferrite bead.

Beware the clones
PCMHACKING.net products use only genuine components. Our ECM Comms boards use a genuine FTDI chip which works fine with the latest drivers. Clone FTDI chips are in circulation. See here for more information http://hackaday.com/2014/02/19/ft232rl-real-or-fake/

More information
If you need more information about the use of this hardware, click the FAQ button at the top/right of the forums and have a read of the documents available for download there.

Purchasing
USB ALDL Interfaces are $120 inc. postage and handling.
Assuming this is still the relevant place to purchase?
