Tunerpro won't connect anymore

Post by vscapricetim »

Hey all,

I'm having an issue connecting to tunerpro rt all of a sudden. Had issues before when it would only connect every now and then but came good. Now I can't connect at all. Just says connecting and takes ages to say hardware not found. If I pull the cable out of the laptop it will say not found straight away.

Windows 10

Any ideas?

Cheers

I had this issue before with win10. Was working but stopped after windows did an update. I reverted back to a slightly earlier version of Tunerpro to get it to work.

This is a very general question. Lots of things could be wrong. You are going to have to provide more detail if you want a correct answer instead of guesswork.

Things like what you are trying to do, what hardware you have, what operating system you are using (on the car computer), any testing you have done so far, I am going to assume nvram though you havnt told us - if that is running the car or not, and so on. The more you can tell us about what you have and what you know helps.

I'm trying to connect to the ecu through the aldl cable. It used to play up a bit, as in sometimes it would connect and sometimes it wouldn't. Now it doesn't connect at all. Says "connecting" and then hardware not found. Car still runs and drives fine. I've tried a different laptop, different usb ports (shows up that the usb is active in the comm port), starting the car then trying to connect, tried connecting before starting the car, disconnected the battery for a while and retried. If it's trying to connect and I pull the cable out it tells me straight away it cannot detect hardware.

Ok. Does it run the car properly, or could it be corrupted / have had bad data uploaded to it that might have killed it? If you key off, does the blue light on the nvram stay lit for a couple of seconds (indicating it is alive) or immediately go out (indicates you have a problem with the data on it and its not running)?

Car runs properly and blue light stays on for a couple of seconds after turning key off.

Have you checked for power and earth at the ALDL connector?
According to chemistry, alcohol is a solution...

I had an issue not with TP, but the programmer stopped working after a windows update the other week, win 11 as well.

This is despite the device showing up and detecting by windows correctly. My best guess is some security changes block more legacy built software from accessing external hardware ports but I was never able to 100% confirm this.

What I did was run the programmer software in compatibility mode, win 7 in my case and it works perfect again.

Maybe TP is having a similar issue, you could try that and see, quick and easy to do and one more thing ticked off the list either way.
