G'day, just putting this up here first up..
I'm looking to purchase a GQ Programmer to use mainly to bench an NVRAM.
Will buy new or 2nd hand if someone has one they're not using so often any more, just need it relatively soon!
Thankyou!

You can buy new from within AU here
https://darkwire.com.au/shop/ols/produc ... programmer
Not the cheapest, but maybe the fastest.

Wow, it's actually not an awful price for a tool for the job.. would there be any benefit for Delco component programming to buy the one with the adaptor board included, as in for programming memcals or is that a seperate adaptor?

Well, you can get T48 programmers from overseas for about $100 but its a longer wait. Actually it looks like there are some AU resellers on ebay. I cant personally recommend any of them and dont have a T48 myself but people have reported they are an updated minipro TL866 and do work.

It always depends what your doing, but in general no adapter required. The NVRAM chip will plug straight in. Memcals are a topic of their own. You generally would replace the old UV erase chip with a socket, then you can use an eeprom chip and remove it from the socket to reprogram it, or to save that hastle you can make an adapter with some vero board and 2.54mm pins so that you can plug the memcal on to your adapter and the adapter straight in to the programmer. I have one of these on hand so I can read memcals if I need to just by plugging them in but its up to you if you want to make up an adapter like that for your purposes.

Yeah no worries, for now just need it for the NVRAM but will consider making an adaptor or trying to find one online to suit if it gets to that stage. Thankyou

This is the adapter I use. No longer available from Moates but you should be able to reproduce.

You don't need a programmer for the NVRAM typically, the OS / model you ask for will come on it already if brought from here, you just set the jumper pins and then use your ALDL cable while it's in the car to make changes. The only reason you'd need a writer is to actually change the OS on the NVRAM or recover it if it corrupts somehow.
Worth noting that just plugging the whole NVRAM board in with an adaptor to the programmer won't allow you to write over it, you'll have to take the NVRAM chip out of its socket and put that in the programmer directly.

Cheers mate! Yep have spoken to RK and confirmed this.
I have bought an EPROM Programmer because I corrupted the nvram by loading the incorrect file type on in TunerPro.

Oh well at least it's all rewritable!

Yeah if you can find one, they turned in to the T48 we're talking about after the serial numbers were reverse engineered. I havnt seen any for sale for quite a while, usually they just put it in the description for the T48 as they know people want them.
