If its a P01 or P59 you can set the vin with pcmhammer. Not sure about US models but you might also need to re-link security which you cant do with pcmhammer or disable security which you can do with universal patcher and writing the changes back.

Start with that, see how you go. If it does not look to any security settings. I am assuming you are getting same service number, same vehicle configuration, etc. Needless to say for it to just work, it needs the right operating system and calibration on it.

maybe off topic(VCM wise....) used pcm hammer to change the vin# on the first successful VCM read on a P04 and worked. So fast n quick that i was like waiting for the you got punked moment, just because of my hours spent with a what i believe to be messed up JetDST interface i don't know. My correct VIN# is in a VCM that is programmed(tuned) to tell the D.I.C to kick the "performance shift" light on the trip computer side of things with a added push lock switch on a wire to a now populated pcm pin hole. i will get it in tomorrow and tell the deetz but since i got a OBDLinkSX cable, life's been good. No V.A.T.S issues etc. before adding correct vin# and believe me the scan tool comes up with 2 vin#'s one shows 1 code all the time, other shows what you would expect from a code read on a freshly reset(battery disconnected for few hours doin work)VCM. and i have a PK# system!!! I'll mention that I've had to do 0 vats learn just swapping VCM's kinda have a rotation going on. i forget that this sht happens as my gm's have always been good 2 me(maybe could be worded gooder). wish we were all local as being alone in the garage every night passing out trying to get logs is fun as hell but needs company but ill be back tomorrow night to let ya know if i had problems swapping vin # after running both VCM's then changing the VIN#'s but as stated, maybe not worth my 2 cents being different think boxes n all . ill leave now sry.
