Idle Spark not correct ?

Post by Jaso74 »

Hey guys .

Not too sure what is happening or why , assume there is a simple answer I'm missing though .

Changed my cam and retuned as required, getting pretty close pretty quick but I have a erronous timing showing up in tp5 display at idle.
I'm 424 ecu and 11P on a 355 for some basic specs .
I have idle spark table enabled as well as closed throttle VE to help get some good control of idle control due to bugger all vacuum with new camshaft( Crow 4649 hyd) .

Now I have idle spark at the 60,70,and 80 kpa cells set to 28 degrees on both the idle table and the main spark timing table , only thing is at idle and to approx 1500 rpm the data only reads 10.5 degrees . At 1500 rpm it seems to just jump into the main spark table and reads correct for the desired numbers .
I don't feel like I have adjusted a setting or flag to instigate this but to be real with myself , sorta has to be something I have changed doesn't it ?
Also doesn't seem to matter if is closed loop idle or not too , as seen in attactched screenshot with is not at idle .

Tipping I'm missing something stupid I just can't see it , any ideas ?

Can't really add anything to this. But it's like its in diagnostic mode where it pegs timing at 10deg.

Found it . Compared to std bin and found something set for no known reason . I don't remember setting it either which is weird but anyway , now has timing as per idle timing map at idle not 10 degrees ! :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:

Anyway attachment shows the guilty sets. Had EST - bypass spark at closed throttle . This was checked , apparently making idle spark set to 10 degrees ! Guessing the only reason I was getting away with that is the hole in the throttle plate letting some extra idle air in, other wise would not have been happy idling at all . :wtf:
