P59 allisson control

They go by many names, P01, P10, P12, P59, E38, VPW, '0411 etc.

P59 allisson control

Post by V8fan »

Hi guys
I bumped onto allison LCT parameter into 7603 and wanna know what is it
Is it some kind of protocol that allows to send/recieve data between P59 and allison TCU ?
My goal is to read from P59 -rpm, throttle and actual torque to give this data to 8HP and transmit into P59 torque reduction command while shifting
Is it possible ?
Im not happy to switch P59 to E38 since there is no cheap software/hardware to tune e38 but I wanna try to use dodge 8hp with its OEM TCU

Piggy back Tach output and TPS. Should be doable. MaxxECU?

Torque reduction signal is some basic PWM duty cycle if I remember right. Or frequency like MAF.

I don't know nothing about allison+P59 (or P01)
I only have experience with more modern allison 1000 6sp with dual CAN there all information goes freely between ECU and TCU
P59 was built to control not only engine but transmission and Im curious is there any chance to reduce torque by sending commands somehow to P59

$700, but Anyway, I get it.
Most likely, custom firmware, or an intermediate box, or both.

700 for 4cyl
For normal engine(v8) 1750 with connectors
Its 25-30 P59 PCMs )
I'll pass

8HP is CAN BUS right? It's that $700 option as just a converter box, or get on DIYing something. See what you can learn about the custom firmware people are using on the 8HP, then see what your options are.

I know about that ability for maxxecu to talk with 8hp(but it require reprogram TCM to custom maxx OS for 8hp) but I think for analog to can bridge better use oem ECM from same dodge just killing all DTC related to missed components
If I will buy maxxecu it will be definitely for v8 version just to simplify config
Right now I wanna find the way to reduce torque by P59 from external command or signal
Maxxecu is plan D )

If you're willing to go that far, just use the Dodge ECU for the LS. Custom crank trigger, maybe cam, wire it up, tune it.

Its not easy to find here locally and it cant be programmed by PCM hammer )
For now I only found diesel ECU that can be used as analog to CAN but cant control petrol engine and cant reduce torque while shift
