Arduino CAN Logger with GUI

Post by Lowlyfe1 »

I'm in the middle of reversing TP2.0 for VAG. I had to do back-to-back sniffing, and having some kind of export feature was imperative. I made this little GUI that makes it all that easy.

Included is the compiled GUI exe (written in Python) and the Arduino sketch. Hardware requirements are just an Arduino Nano and a CAN SPI module.

Follow the wiring shown above for the Arduino and the SPI module.

It's easy to setup. Install the Arduino IDE and make sure you have the MCP2515 library by autowp (Sandeep Mistry) installed. Set the COM port assigned to your Arduino Nano (using the pull-down menu) and select "Arduino Nano" from the device list, then flash the sketch.

After you're done flashing the sketch, make sure you close and exit the Arduino IDE to avoid a COM port conflict when attempting to use the GUI.

Using the GUI is simple: plug the Arduino into the computer and run the exe. Click "Refresh" if the Arduino is not auto-detected on startup, then click "Connect", select where you want the logs saved, and click "Start Logging". When you're done, click "Stop Logging" and it will export a timestamped data log.

Edit: The exe is too big so here is the link for that https://mega.nz/file/VJpFCaqI#HMRBm7EOx ... qGr0REZU80
