Cheap ELM327 device

Post by T3klock »

I started to have an issue with one of my cheap elm devices connecting with Bluetooth so I took it apart. To my surprise it's pretty bare! There is an IC labeled AC24BP24915 which appears to be the Bluetooth chip and a LM393. Does anyone know how this works? I guess the elm code is running on this MCU that is hard to get any info about. I mean I know this is a fake elm327 but this device did work.

Code: Select all

There is probably a PIC compatible processor on the other side of the PCB. But it looks like very few of those OBD pins are connected, so its probably missing most the protocols an ELM is supposed to support, but its possible there is solder on the other side of the board that cant be seen in these pics.

And on top of that, the ones that are soldered look kind of terrible so maybe they're making intermittent contact causing issues
