Can you write to the eeprom segment of the flash? Totally depends on the ecu but changing the seed and key to something of your own will keep it from being unlocked and read.. Some ecu's can be bypassed with a pin short method though but that is somewhat invasive and would keep some of the prying eyes out..

Why would you want to do that?

Re: password protecting or aldl disable
i'm curious as to why as well.
Anyone determined will be able to pull the tune from the ecu.
Is it so mods can't be detected that would void insurance claims or because they're not legal for p platers? both of these reasons would be flagged when the tune couldn't be read anyway as it'd def not be stock.

This is not the first thread about this. Its usually because someone is selling non-dyno tunes and they don't want the kids reading it off with cheap tools and sharing it around.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Re: password protecting or aldl disable
Simple answer: No, it's not possible.
Complicated answer: Build a custom ECU/PCM or make and flash proprietry firmware that functions as a perfect replacement.

Yep, doesn't matter how good a lock feature is on an oem controller. It can always be defeated. And even if you went to the length of developing a custom patch that renders an ecm incapable of been read by any other tool except the one you developed in secret, someone will crack the case to dump the chip to work out how you're doing it anyway. It will always be a cat & mouse zero sum game. An irony could be that if something like that was found in the wild, (unless you paid off antus by covering his server costs for 5 years) it would be members of this forum that reverse it. The initial post would be from a newb titled something like 'pcmhammer cannot read ecm'. Can you tell which side of the tunerlock fence I'm on
. But I can't be all one way - a tiny seed key algo patch on both the pcm and in pcmhammer so you can still read / write it would do the job.

This is not PCM Hammer, this is ose flash tool. And I know you are jokeing but I just need to say that I am not accepting protection payments for software. I do support software authors and do keep everything above board on this site. Some forum members may have the skills, but neither I or this site have anything to do with that. This site is about sharing our knowledge to learn and our original work.
