Some questions regarding $12p

Post by silentshout »

Hi all, been playing around with the VP commodore for a little bit, for context its running an 808 ecu with the NVRAM board and high speed usb comms.

The car is an auto 3.8 buick, has a very oldschool set of wildcat headers, redback exhaust a 100cel cat and one of those ss inductions over the radiator into the airbox setups (Soon to be a MACE CAI) and getting something dialed in for general driving before we start throwing some other mods at it.

through the help of the forum we found the Knock control to be overbearingly controlling and reporting false knock events (would report knock down low and nothing up top, even on factory numbers with 98 octane)

Disabling that was a huge boost to performance, we fixed the PPK (didnt realise the VP sends the signal to the dash which reduces it before sending to the ecu) so instead of topping out around 23kmph it now reads correctly.

Just trying to flesh out some of the other things we are noticing in the logs,

RDSC, reading the advanced tuning guide it says this is for Manual cars (along with 2 other tables / parameters) for transient behavior, but doesnt mention it being used in the auto.

Would this option need to be disabled here in the flag for map a and b?

For context here is one such anomoly we have found, applying some throttle around 70kmph cruising the timing advance drops dramatically (actually reaches -2)

The coolant based timing subtract map looks fine as well, and with burst knock retard disabled just trying to work out what else might be causing the timing to drop so dramatically.

Last question is about the "Current VE" parameter found in the data list.

I have noticed at some RPM it can be reading above or below even the interpolated values of the VE table, and was wondering if this parameter is based on the table itself or its "Mathed" by the ecu using other inputs and we can use that as some sort of indication of our VE table being somewhat accurate

Many thanks in advance, and if you need any further info please dont hesitate to ask.
