VL Walkinshaw Build Electronic Issues
Re: VL Walkinshaw High Idle Issue
Filed the TPS mounts. Now have 0.5v at Closed Throttle.
Re: VL Walkinshaw High Idle Issue
Yes, I thought that would lower the WOT TPS output.
Did you test yet?
Just measured 0.84v closed/ 4.36v open on mine. The range is similar. Maybe bump it up a tad?

Re: VL Walkinshaw High Idle Issue
I haven’t test as yet. I’ve bought some cap screws to use for the TPS mounting screws. That way I can get in there with an Allen key and not have to remove the secondary TB.'quipt4it wrote:Yes, I thought that would lower the WOT TPS output.

Ive opened the primary a little also, ready to see how it idles up. I’ll push it up a little that way I could go in and out on the TB stop screw. I’m really hoping this will fix it.
What sort of cold idle should I maybe be aiming for? The service manual states the operating temp idle but not cold.
Re: VL Walkinshaw High Idle Issue
With the cam go for around 800-850 rpm. Then see how it feels when you go a little lower.
Set it wherever it feels happiest.
I was wondering why we had a missing t-body

Re: VL Walkinshaw High Idle Issue
This is with the TPS set close to .5v and the primary throttle cracked open. Also tried it at .6v, .7v and .8v. All the same outcome.

This is the same but trying to engage the A/C.

Re: VL Walkinshaw High Idle Issue
How far did you crack the primary throttle. Without being able to control the IAC steps thru tuning, you could do the following,
Find a piece of aluminium with the same O.D, as the IAC bore. measure where the inlet port to the manifold is, what you would be trying to achieve is to drill a small hole in this sleeve to block/ reduce the air passage into the manifold. I have done this to good effect in the past.
But first, did you do an IAC relearn. If yes, let me know if you see where I am going with the above, if not, let me know.

I’ve open the primary quite a bit. If I open it more it will idle up close to 1400rpm'quipt4it wrote:How far did you crack the primary throttle. Without being able to control the IAC steps thru tuning, you could do the following,

I’ll need you to tell me how to do the IAC relearn?
Re: VL Walkinshaw High Idle Issue
It will do it normally if you first disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes, then start and hold the idle over 1500 or so RPM for 20 seconds.
My take on the problem is that your getting too much IAC input. I don't think a reset will fix this. Give it a go.

Will try this tomorrow now as it’s a bit late to fire it up.'quipt4it wrote:It will do it normally if you first disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes, then start and hold the idle over 1500 or so RPM for 20 seconds.

It’s funny how it will idle at 850rpm in diagnostic mode. Any thoughts on this?
