So on bench, you just need to know the pincode from PIM and it will autolink then?The1 wrote:yep, on my test bench with known pin code i can do, ecu reset, pim reset and relink in a few seconds.
Going to save a bunch of time!

I'm thought resetting a hex to numerical 00 would be $30 ?jxx wrote:Oh dear...
So a tech2 and other scantools, when resetting the PIM set the pin hexcode to 00 00 00 00.
Now a small problem arises, I tried to link a reset ECM to a reset PIM... half expecting it to ask for a pin like scantools to set the new pin and link.
Says it was successful..... but what pin did it set.....
There's actually a issue with some PIMs straight from GM to that had a decimal In place of a 0 when read with from the eprom. It to also copys the hex value for that decimal and links the ecu. Which is fine until that ecu ever needs to be reset or another ecu replaced and linked to that PIM.jxx wrote:Yeah it was in another thread, and iirc there was no fix for that ecu.....
So just a heads up, don't do what I just did.........
Yeah if it links, It still links, as all its doing is storing the pin in hex from the PIM to the ECU. It doesn't care what that PIN is, so long as it matches.Gareth wrote:So does that mean that it did link and will run in the car?
