Suzuki Buggy's Datto 1200 Delco

thought id make a thread for my mates buggy that we are working on delcoing. here is the buggy

Started life as one of those little suzuki Sierra 4wd' s, has a Datto 1200 engine, RWD only. we have got the shits with the carby and missing and farting over bumpy terrain etc, so we are delcoing it

here is the completed reluctor dizzy:

and the completed Injection manifold. im not convinced that the injector placement is going to be very ideal. its much of an experiment and this was the easiest manifold to make, so well give it a go, the way I see it, a datto 1200 engine is so small, 2x blue tops shoudl be more than enough fuel, consideirng 2x 304 culinders = 1250cc's anyway

very cool, any progress? also what are you doing about the fuel tank, adding lots baffles?

well VL400 has just put a 4cyl dfi module in the postbox for the buggy, we should be taking the buggy up this week to the workshop to start the efi process. we might use a surge tank up at the engine.

been slow progress, working on other projects, this one is on the go again, he had a slight problem last week, sat there and ground up the balancer for trigger notches for the 4cyl DFI, looked over at his spare head/motor (which the injection imlet manifold was made for) and close inspection finds that the engine is different! so looks like we wont be injecting a 1200..... a bit of research finds the the new engine is a datto 1400! we just accidentally scored another 200CC's. the 1400 is nearly together now, wiring all done, DFI module mounted, dizzy deleted the goal is bolt the motor in and start it by thursday.

well, it runs!
we got it running a little better after the video, but in the video it was running on a TBI memcal, with $12P APNX, set to 4cyl, knock sensor disabled, ref angle 50 deg, 0.06 injector rate. got a long way to go to be paddock ready, but first step done!

I realised hed cut the pulley mirror image, so the sync pulse is 50 deg after TDC, not 70, but we checked the timing on both coils and they are the same, so MEH.

looks great ! was it a big job to make the dfi setup work ?

sure wasnt all we did was take the 7 notches template off this site, and marked them out on the pulley (no balancer, so we just used one edge of the pulley where the belt runs), then hack sawed the edges of the notches in a few mm, then ground out the rest. mounted the VT ABS wheel sensor where you can see it, then wired the module in. my mate could be heard a few blocks away screaming "ITS GOT SPARK< LOOK< LOOK ITS GOT SPARK WOOOOOOOOO"
