I didn’t like the transgo hd2 kit but that’s probably on the harsher settings. I’d never go a b&m kit again
don’t ask. But yeah definitely don’t be a hero and ask too much from a 60

Re: Turbocharging the ecotec motor
I think that is what my mate put in his, HD2.
I had upped the line pressure on his L67, then he put in the shift kit and it was harsh, brutal is probably more appropriate.
That was before I discovered the add PSI for PE table.

The transgo pro kit is nice. You almost don’t notice it normal day to day, a to b driving. But progressively gets firmer as you mash the loud pedal. Then tweaking the up shift speeds keeps the little v6 in its power band but without effecting the low speed low throttle cruising. Then the downshifts helping to kick it back and get it right back into that power band a little earlier for that over take. Then the tcc settings help to give you a little kick in the back from the seat when the torque converter locks at the right time. Then upping it from there and heading up through the hills, the power button comes into its own on that spirited drive. But there still feels like there’s something missing. Maybe some boost and a good stally

Re: Turbocharging the ecotec motor
Boost is always the answer haha with a decent stall you don't even need to kick down lol

Re: Turbocharging the ecotec motor
True that. I don’t think there’s much gains to be had from a stock ecotec. Not in the VY’s anyway. Playing around with the trans settings gives some good gains, but I think from there you really need parts. A good stally would be my number 1 pick. Then cam, fuel system and boost. Then just see what breaks and go from there
I think beyond that I’d seriously start looking at an ls swap.

another factor could be torque management in the ls’s. Do a bin compair of an ls1 man vs auto. I don’t believe torque management is turned on in the v6’simmortality wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 10:34 pm How come a stock 4L60e dies behind a V6 and yet they live behind LS motors?
There is currently a class action lawsuit against Holden/GM about failing late model transmissions in Commodores, slipping/failing converters. OEM they are tuned to constantly slip the TCC! Anyway I was doing some reading about it and then saw something that says GM/Holden were doing the same with the 4L60e. So in stock form a lot of it has to do with the factory tuning of these transmissions.
The problem now is we are dealing with old transmissions and you just don't know what kind of condition it is in.
My mate is currently putting a new built 355 in his VR SS, when they pulled out the old 355/tranny it was shocking to see the state of the inside of the box and yet it was only slipping in 3rd at full power on the drag strip but was perfectly happy towing a trailer with Subaru on it for 400km+.

They aren't the same box as well. A lot of difference's between the 2!
