i've done a bit more work on this today. tidied up the adaptor from the elbow to the manifold. got it all bolted up. cleaned up the elbow and throttle body. the tb was filthy ! it had a heap of oil and dirt all through it. pulled off the iac motor and tps then went to town with some degreaser. hopefully this will give it a fighting chance at idling smoothly. the only real drama i have with this setup is using 6mm plate to make the adaptor. 10mm probably would have been better. we'll see.

i'd put a smeer of silastic or something similar around the adaptor plate just to make sure if there is any flex in it that it will still seal!

trimmed the rail mounts tonight. cut the rail to size. cut the threads in the ends of the rail for the fuel fittings. the plan at this stage is to use a camira pressure reg. and a 3/8 bsp fitting with a hose tail in each end. cleaned the rail out internally and bolted it all up. just got to put the oxy sensor bung into the extractors and can fit the manifolds back on. pics later.

did a bit more on this today. dug out my extractors and the bottom half had rusted away. the rest is solid, so i'll weld in some new tube. as an aside, is 400mm too far from the head with a narrowband unheated sensor ?

did a little bit today. (stupid work.) sat the manifold on the engine, and started looking at what needs to be moved or extended with the wiring. in my gear i found a cut up camira loom. presumably from a wrecker engine. i'll be able to rob injector plugs and coloured wire from it which is a bonus. the relays even came out near the battery. i tapped a 3/8 gas plug and screwed the coolant temp sensor into it then put it in the block.

with distributors, i have an elb dizzy here ready to go. i also have a locked holden 6 dizzy which i modified to work in the hemi. it seems from reading holden202's thread on converting a 202 that it'll be the easiest option. and is there an optimum distance for nb oxy sensors ? i've only come across later 'dores with heated sensors lately, which have all been miles away.

if you can get your hands on a heated sensor with a plug on it wire that into the loom wherever it best fits, the non heated ones really need to be as close to the engine as you can get them so they get up to temperature quicker.

i'll keep an eye out. vr's are still highly prized around here unfortunately. i decided to start on the wiring tonight. cut the loom open, and labelled what i need to connect to stuff. i got rid of the alternator, starter, oil pressure bypass circuit for fuel pump wiring. and others too. tach comes to mind. i plan on just insulating the a/c wires and tucking them out of the way. with the inhibitor switch wiring, do i need to ground it or something ? it's a manual car. there was talk somewhere of different idle strategy between manual and auto. is this right ?

so i laid the loom over the motor today. most of it will be fine. i've got to extend the ignition wiring, and the cts. with the grounds, is there any special reason they were on the head bolts ? it's looking easy to just run them to the battery.it seems like the best earth i'll get. as long as my earth strap to the engine and body is good, it'll be ok ? i'm starting to get excited. getting close to firing the ol' girl up !
