For a cheap and common source of them, Falcons have used Bosch 3 wire heated sensors for years.Holden202 wrote:if you can get your hands on a heated sensor with a plug on it wire that into the loom wherever it best fits, the non heated ones really need to be as close to the engine as you can get them so they get up to temperature quicker.

Re: Briney's 245 hemi
nah mate, they are the sensor grounds, you have to have them earthed to the engine or it will skew the sensor readings.briney wrote:so i laid the loom over the motor today. most of it will be fine. i've got to extend the ignition wiring, and the cts. with the grounds, is there any special reason they were on the head bolts ? it's looking easy to just run them to the battery.it seems like the best earth i'll get. as long as my earth strap to the engine and body is good, it'll be ok ? i'm starting to get excited. getting close to firing the ol' girl up !

Re: Briney's 245 hemi
is the output the same ? i have access to multiple wrecked falcons to steal the wiring plug from. i've bought falcon heated sensors for $30-odd off ebay a few times. and jayme, thanks for the input. i thought there might have been something like that going on.festy wrote:For a cheap and common source of them, Falcons have used Bosch 3 wire heated sensors for years.Holden202 wrote:if you can get your hands on a heated sensor with a plug on it wire that into the loom wherever it best fits, the non heated ones really need to be as close to the engine as you can get them so they get up to temperature quicker.

They seem to be compatible.
The two white wires are the heater, black = signal, and earth is via the sensor body on the ones I have here.

i've been away for a while. i had a bit of a fiddle with the wiring. added a relay to heat the falcon oxy sensor. cut and added bits where necessary. all the intake side is done now. just got to finish the ignition, fix and fit the extractors and connect the fuel pump. i'll get some pics later.

Re: Briney's 245 hemi
did a bit more today. got the manifolds on. module mounted and refitted the dizzy. the plan for tomorrow is to get it to run in some sort of fashion. then i can get it inside. the motor is in an f100-sized dodge truck. i found some pipe for the extractors and i've fitted the remaining two halves to the engine. when it's near the welder i'll tack it all up and put in the nut for the oxy sensor.
also because i am using a dizzy with a V6 memcal, do i need to burn a chip with a 10 degree reference anngle so it'll go ?

Re: Briney's 245 hemi
success ! of sorts anyway. i roughly hooked it all up today. burnt a chip using apnx bin and a 10 degree ref angle. squirted some fuel into the throttle body and it fired up ! ran rough, but meh. now i've got to go and save some uni students from themselves. ( i do nrma stuff.) a nice 300k jaunt. sigh.
tomorrows efforts will consist of getting some fittings togther for a temporary 20L drum fuel system. and some longer running. might even try and get it in the shed. yeeha !

yeah running for more than a few seconds will be a good test and if you can get it running for long enough to heat up that will give you a good chance to be able to progress the tune more!
but just the fact you have gotten it to the running stage you have to be happy!

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: Briney's 245 hemi
i damn near turned a cartwheel when it went ! it's definitely going to be interesting to run it longer and start tuning. might see if i can do that this arv.
