Re: ALDL Logger Support Thread
Yeah can use either one or both pins to power it. There is a picture in the instructions for an '808 comms board and a note about connecting the logger before turning the key on.
Re: ALDL Logger Support Thread
yep, normally you can run the internal 808 5v to pin 9. that pin is not connected in a pc serial port so it wont affect using the port for laptops.
as mentioned by vl400 the catch is you have to connect the logger with the key off or it will corrupt your NVram as the logger at bootup really hammers hte little 5v reg. the other catch is you must stop recording before you turn the key off as unlike the dash connector that leaves the logger powered up with key off, this method will cause hte logger to power down before closing the file and you will be left with an unsaved 1kb log.
ive been toying with the idea of putting a 2nd db9 connector wired up to the earth and tx and rcv of the serial board but with one of the permanent 12v linked to pin 6. that way I can connect the logger while the engine is running without corrupting my nvram and I can turn the key off while recording and not lose my log. 2 things that happen allll the time to me
