You sure that's the diag connector? Mine's a black plug with tabs on the sides...

The N13 harness (which I believe is identical to the LD astra) has the diag port at the ECU connectors, so see if there's a black plug hanging off the back of the ECU.

That's the only connector and it comes from the main loom

I have an N13 pulsar loom in my shed, so I just took a pic. This is the connector and it comes out the loom about 20cm back from the ecu.

Sounds like you might need to refer to the astra wiring diagram festy posted and wire it in if the pins are not populated.

Yeah mine doesn't have that connector . Only the one I have in the photo.
But it's in the same position on the loom as yours.
The service number on my loom is 01227808

You're going to have to trace the wires from the ECU connectors to work out the ALDL pins in that case.

There is t a wire coming out of slot a5 can I use any 12v source for the light
Or does it have to be from ignition ? Also does the car need to be running .
When I put it in diagnostic mode ?

Any 12v source that shares an earth with the ECU will be fine.
The ignition will need to be on, but no need to start the engine to get the codes out.
