Nope cant do spark cut using 12P.

You will never get it to hold at 2k RPM, cutting all 8 injectors at that RPM does not work well at low RPM so raise the hard cut up higher. You can really only use AFR and spark retard to reduce power, play with the higher MAP areas on map b - its still going to be hard to get it to hold on the brakes once you have some reasonable power levels.

Also, Is it really a lean condition your seeing? Dont forget what a wideband is actually reading.

Thanks,

I'll keep fiddling with it tomorrow.

I suppose the wideband is reading an incomplete burn in the exhaust.... maybe thats what i was getting from trying to send in 5:1 AFR and
40 degrees retard

So the hard fuel cut doesn't make it lean out? Just trying to figure out if all the spluttering and banging is my pistons and exhaust valves melting or just the bombs getting set off in the turbo manifold. :study:

5:1 is really rich. lean is burning with not enough fuel. fuel cut is not burning (generating no heat or power - not a lean burn condition). i think you are barking up the wrong tree with your approach. Your best approach is to modify your trans as suggested, or go manual and operate the clutch yourself. For auto 2 stage spark maps if you have a speed sensor you could use a flex table with a wire looping back from the flex out to the map switch pin to swap spark tables above a certain road speed automatically. But its not the antilag feature your looking for - this ecu does not have the ability to do that.

Ok,

It was more of an experiment i guess, I did manage to get boost in neutral by retarding heavily and sending in rich mixtures. I raised the fuel cut rpm to 4,000 and even though I had it set so at 2,000 rpm to start the retard and get pig rich, the motor still managed to rev up to the 4000. I admit it took a few seconds to get from 2000 to 4000 with the foot to the floor and it was building boost but when it hit the 4000 rpm hard fuel cut it was making a lot of noise and misfires etc and the wideband going crazy so i backed off. The manifolds were glowing red in just a few seconds. but it sort of worked but not really as well as i would have liked. maybe 6psi.

I have also found out that it is possible to mount a nissan patrol transfer case to the rear of a th400 trans into a hilux. I saw a few pictures last night and it looks like a fairly big job and a lot of cutting in the tunnel and custom cable shifters etc. A lot of work just to get a transbrake.

maybe slicks and high stall will have to do.
Here's the vid of the 2 step i saw launching that got me interested in the setup :

Might be time to get a MSD ignition system with built in 2 step.

i accidently created a 2step on the vb by having narrow pulsewidth mode on for longer pulsewidth than required hold pedal 1/4 throttle drdrdrdrdr while the turbo was whistling worked so well i left it there for a while  now it just gets held at 5800 rpm and the clutch gets sidestepped to launch :driving:

I don't think i'd trust myself with a clutch....

When i was at the track the other week in the lux a guy in the crowd wanted me to try locking the hubs in and going for a valve bounce launch by just jamming it into gear.... lol.

I could just imagine the whole thing jumping a foot off the ground and cogs, tailshafts and axles flying out through the fuel tank into a big fireball.

i had the same issue with not being able to get boost up on stageing, I have now set the 2 stage tune up on mine aswell although i have a 2800 stall in mine and slicks, on the second tune just went 0 deg timing right across the board after something like 1500 rpm and managed 7psi boost on standard's in the driveway before wheel spin. haven't got it to the track yet but looking promising

i can get to 9psi on the brakes with stock v6 stall there is a way to make a cheap spark limiter  go grab the cheapest rev counter with shift light that you can buy or an adjustable standalone shift light remove the bulb and use it to drive a relay on the coil earth old stockcar trick to get rpm limiter on points dizzy with carb

Haha I like it Delco, maybe you could use a flex output instead of a tacho to trigger the coil earth relay (with a brake switch wired in series, so it only cuts spark on the brake) and for extra points use a double pole relay and get it to switch to map B with loads more fuel while there is no spark
