VT-VX Clusters
Re: VT-VX Clusters
gonna need a few more different odo writes to understand that one, and couple different clusters with known vin numbers to decipher that one.

Re: VT-VX Clusters
Do you have a copy of the file you pulled out?
Re: VT-VX Clusters
i had to add the .bin to upload it, it is otherwise untouched
Re: VT-VX Clusters
Hi everyone been watching this topic for a while now thought id post up.
I have 2 level 3 cluster with the 93S56 eeproms that i would like to correct.
So i thought id buy a programer and give it a go, can anyone point me in the direction of a programmer that can read/write the 93S56 eeprom with a clip.
Thanks Ron.

Re: VT-VX Clusters
Thats the one's I originally posted about, & I used a GQ3 programmed & 3m soic 8 clip!
gq3 I bought;
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/True-USB-Wil ... 43a62daa8a
What I'd probably prefer it if does all the same which I think it does just has more legs & cover;
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/True-USB-Wil ... 4841420ec4
3m clip adapter;
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3M-SOIC-SOP- ... 1c1a7a2d9d
good luck & easy to do if it has that chip!

Re: VT-VX Clusters
Thanks for that i seen you used the gq-3x but i read that you had to pull the chip as it wouldn't read/write properly.
maybe i missed something.
cheers Ron.

Re: VT-VX Clusters
Yeah you have to take the chip off the board AFAIK, but even then it won't clip into zif so you need an adapter I use that 1 as it also plugs onto back off vy-vz chip which can be done IC!
You could get an adaptor like BPJ recommended which would be cleaner if you only want to do off board;
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ADP-004-SOIC ... 4ab9d57e93
EDIT: I just noticed this a cheap china complete kit;
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/High-speed-t ... 3378ee519f
Or the genuine original from MCUmall
I noticed there was a programmer that just had adapter built in for those chips only but in my opinion if your going to get into it you may as well get a programmer that does more!
On the note of the NEC programmed type VX series I had a quick look at it & looks like it uses the same calc as the VT type just a bit arse about if you add 1440 to 230000 & then divide by 16 & minus that figure from FFFF & BINGO... but a bit arse about!

Re: VT-VX Clusters
if you wanted to play around with the Eprom soldered on the board i would replace the 93s56 with the 93c56 it should work with a clip

Re: VT-VX Clusters
Wow, that sounds interesting!
I don't know much about eeprom's & the likes whats the difference between the 93S56 & the 93C56?

Re: VT-VX Clusters
the "s" stands for secure, it is old tech and that's why you're getting errors with newer programmers, the 93c56 is the replacement and is only $4.00 or so
