strange, thought for sure ud be able to at least go from 3 lcd to single, just wouldnt display the other two lcds as there not there.

the cluster did not work properly, it seems i changed most of the calibration when i flashed it, the tacho,speedo and fuel gauge were all out by a lot.
so i'm on the hunt for another,

has any one purchased a NEC DASHBOARD PROGRAMMER yet, do they work ?
does having one mean no soldering, ???? do they work thru the diagnostics connecter ?

Not me, but the info is here. Yes they work. They need soldering, and not via the diagnostics connector.

Im still awaiting on mine to arrive, but yes they do work, Madmn is the only one to have successfully get a read/write on the chip.
The NEC programmer doesnt plug into the diagnostic port, requires alot of soldering and effort to connect up then grab a read, change the kilometers and write back.
For something to work through the diagnostic port, will a workshop scan tool with security access which still wont change the odo as it can do only clusters under 100,000 kms (Somewhere along those lines).
Attacking the cluster through ALDL line is a whole new ball game.

The NEC programmer will correct the ODO on the VX clusters but until we work out how the data is stored that's all it will do, and you'll need a decent iron, mine is temp controlled and i have tips down to .5mm and if you manage to bridge any pins you'll have a hard time removing the excess solder.

So i received my programmer today Minipro TL866A
Pulled the chip of a single vt cluster read no worries, also wrote the data to another chip AF93BC56 to see if it will work.
So are the odo locations $0 up to $20
Are any other configurable locations know yet.
If someone had a tech2 or similar & a programmer getting locations would be easy.
These would be the locations i would look for
vt single v6/v8
auto/manual
fuel tank size series 1/2 sedan/wagon/ute
air bag count
vt triple v6/v8
auto/manual
fuel tank size series 1/2 sedan/wagon/ute
air bag count
When the wrecker programed my ls1 vu ute with vt triple cluster we had to change it to series 2 & select ute then 80 litre tank to get the fuel gauge to read in the right direction

Unfortunately with my 2 dumps I didn't have any vehicle details of what they came out of can you post your dump & details of model?

The attached bin is from a single vt
But i have no info on it as i got it from the wreckers for parts.
I have 3 triple window dashes & 1 more single that i will get reads from.
Im just waiting on some sockets so i can solder them on to one of each for test setups.
So was the odo location $0 up to $20 ?
