The temp sensor should be 3.3 - 3.5V at operating temperature.
The problem is likely to be one of the following -
-Sensor is busted
-Wiring problem between PCM & sensor (& ground)
-faulty PCM

Re: VS Commodore V8 ute ECU troubles
old vn ecu's used to be bad for the coolant sensing circuits to die and react like this .fit a new sensor and if that doesn t work slap in a wrecker ecu
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

Re: VS Commodore V8 ute ECU troubles
Ok, we have mis-behaving...........
There was a little bit of the CTS issue, but then also the open/closed loop wasn't working properly either.
Not even when the CTS value came good.
There were no ALDL connection errors though.
Only errors from me stopping an starting the engine a few times.
See attached -

What .adx have you used?
Please either post up yours or if it is a standard one from here let us know what it is called.

Re: VS Commodore V8 ute ECU troubles
In my own review of the log.........
I interestingly note that the battery volts are very low at the start - for a running vehicle, with a charging alternator - 11.5v - 12.5V.
I'm pretty sure the alternator is good, as it's brand new Bosch.
The original one (which I still have), had intermittant no-charging problems. (where the battery light would come on randomly)
So more to the point, the PCM thinks the battery volts are low.
Also interesting, is how the CTS temp varies, but the CTS voltage is not corresponding to the temp changes. It's erratic.

It's a modified version of the 16176424.adx as found on here.charlay86 wrote:What .adx have you used?

Yeah, it doesn't seem to work on the other $11 VR adx file (as I just found out)

The monitor Graphs are very interesting.
I added a Coolant Temp voltage line, to the Coolant temp graph and am about to add Battery volts too.
The correllation should be interesting to watch.
edit - added the battery volts line in purple to both graphs-
woah....... check out 0.54sec, on the graph.
The dip in O2 volts, directly corresponds to the drop in battery volts.

Re: VS Commodore V8 ute ECU troubles
OK, so after a week of driving around with the netbook running and Logging with Tunerpro RT, I finally have a nice Log file, which shows the CTS problem perfectly.
I'd much apprecitate it, if someone could have a quick look at the log file (attached), and give me their opinion............. do you reckon the PCM CTS circuits are to blame for this?
What about the other sensor values......... are they normal, or problematic?
Note - for whatever reason, my log files only work on my 16176424.adx file (also attached)
AND........ I found that before loading my adx definition file, I have to close any existing open adx file, or Tunerpro just Freezes.
