it will usually be a program you will need to uninstall

Ok so I tried another 2 laptops that I know used to work with previous Ecu and same problem. One more thing I am going to try is having the Ecu out of its holder laying flat on the passenger floor and see how it goes. Will keep you posted, im hoping it's not a com's board issue.

Couple of things to try....
Try a different USB cable
Try with the flashtool and do a few get bins
Try with no plugin and just log data

Ok so just been searching through laptop and have found DEP data execution prevention which I know have disabled. Will this help? Have another usb ready to go.

all sorted
windows XP service pack 2 would not accept the latest driver i was installing, so i have updated to service pack 3 and all is good, no drop outs
