thats not even factoring in things like extra wear and tear on cars suspensions from it!

i have to agree with Jayme though, yeah maybe Abbott has done the wrong thing, but so has the previous government to get people to the point where they voted Abbott in because they want to see a change!

While were on politics, I might suggest anyone whos interested in technology and transparency check out Pirate Party Australia. http://pirateparty.org.au/

They are doing a good job of being what the wikileaks party should have been, and are far from a single issue party. They say they are neither left or right and are instead 'evidence based'. All policies are visible to the public and contain the rationale and links to back that rationale up. Policies are viewable here: http://pirateparty.org.au/wiki/Platform

This was their first election and were not able to run in all states/territories this year, but are worth keeping an eye on and considering next elections.

Goodbye clean energy finance corporation. Just because it was good for the future and jobs and was a money returning investment (like the NBN would have been) it seems the new government does not share these priorities.

http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2013 ... obs-greens
The Australian Greens say the coalition government's plan to shut down the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) will wreck job opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

One of the first acts of the new Liberal National government after it is sworn in on Wednesday morning will be to direct the $10 billion CEFC to suspend loans for renewable energy projects.

Prior to the federal election, Senate clerk Rosemary Laing advised the coalition that legislation would be needed to close the so-called green bank and a minister who acted without that legislation could risk "serious legal consequences".

Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young said incoming prime minister Tony Abbott's priorities are wrong.

"We know we have to transition to clean renewable energy and here we have Tony Abbott saying he wants to stop the renewable energy industry from being funded," she told Sky News.

"That is not just breaking the law, it is bad for the environment and it's going to trash jobs."
also "Canadian Scientists Protest Political Sandbagging of Evidence-Based Policy"
http://news.slashdot.org/story/13/09/17 ... sed-policy

and most interesting in the comments:
What's happening is exactly what happened in Australia, the UK and the USA. That is the Murdoch empire has been blasting the populace with carefully orchestrated propaganda designed to shift the political spectrum "right" and get poor people to vote against their own interests.

It will never cease to amaze me how pathetically effective this type of targeted propaganda is at actively getting people to do things that are not in their own interest.
I think we've just seen exactly that happen here though I would just say people.

The fact that most people think our economy is in shambles let alone performing well is absolutely unbelievable.

Yep.

And now announced, have disbanded the position of science minister. I guess they dont want to fact check anything they say or do anyway. Science is that pesky thing that gets in the way all the time anyway.

Looking to make boycotts illegal and remove protection of 100,000ha of Tasmanias forests.

I expect forests to be a subject that not everyone agrees on (I think they should be protected with trees for harvest grown in commercial forests), but it seem they are trying to also slip through a law to make it illegal to boycott products.

"section 45DA exempts people from the secondary boycott provisions if their actions are "substantially related to environmental or consumer protection"."

Consumer protection? So if a product is ripping people off, and you speak out and recommend people not to buy it, you are organising a boycott for purposes of consumer protection and breaking the law? Not good.
