also from my experience finding out the hard way ahaha,
timing covers are different (S1 uses spring and thrust bearing/plate type setup for camshaft end float which runs on inside of timing cover)
cylinder heads also (S2 have extra water jacket ports between liners) although I have been told from engine builders you can fit S2 heads to S1 engines with no adverse affects.
