ok in the $12P xdf you have:
Map A: 20-100kPa Main Spark Advance vs MAP and RPM
Map A: Boost Main Spark Advance vs MAP and RPM
Map B: 20-100kPa Main Spark Advance vs MAP and RPM
Map B: Boost Main Spark Advance vs MAP and RPM
so you can see, map a tables used without the pin grounded has a 20-100kpa table (ie, no boost) then there is a boost table which is used from 100kpa up to 200kpa or 300kpa when you have 2 or 3 bar map sensor fitted and are under boost!
note even with a 2 or 3 bar sensor it still uses the 20-100kpa table till boost comes on!
now v6bucket, you have obviously been running in the map a tables and these are all configured for petrol, so i would suggest either copy all the map b info to the map a tables or alternatively go back to square one, change the map b injector rate, put your v6 ve and spark tables into the map b tables then try from there... and hook up the B9 pin to a switch to ground it for the map b tables.

there is only one VE table and its common for map a and map b ... but if its right it shouldn't need changing when switching from map a to bDec_head wrote:So am i wrong in thinking that's how a 2 bar tune works ?
And if it works the way you have described i can run 2 maps mapA set with more advance different ve say for flat rd maximum power and mapb backed off a little for normal driving up steep hills under extreme load towing etc etc in the same bin and ground that pin b9 to switch between them then have 2 bins switched by jumper giving me 4 different variations.
Thats real good to know never knew it worked like that .
but yes as you suggest more/less advance in one spark table .... which is exactly how my ecotec v6 $12P bin file is setup, its got one map with more advance etc which will only work with 98 octane fuel, then you can switch to the other map tables for use with 91 octane fuel
and yeah you can then also use the jumper on the realtime board to switch between the two memory maps on the nvram which effectively gives you 4 different maps to play with ....
PLEASE NOTE: MAKE SURE BOTH MEMORY MAPS ON THE NVRAM HAVE THE SAME CODE ON THEM!!

I tried several diff chips yesterday arvo, I didn't see the last few posts as i would have changed a few more things as suggested. As it was running lean across the entire rev range it was suggested to bump the injector flow rate up which I have done. The previous flow rate was .06 which was lifted in several stages which seemed to be ok but still a little lean at idle up to around 1600rpm. Between 1600 & 2000 it would hunt slightly which I imagine that can be trimmed out with the fuel map. I changed to another chip which was set at a slightly higher flow rate, when the engine started it was hunting again & wasn't very happy at all so changed back to the previous chip & it to wasn't a happy machine yet 10 mins earlier was good. Is there something that should be done when changing chips, like disconnecting the battery? Or isn't this necessary. I'll look at changing the A & B maps around.

got any logs i can look at ?
the other thing to remember with methanol ... you pretty much can't make it too rich, so you can probably make the injector rate slightly richer which will fix your lean areas then the ones that are rich will still be fine....
also you probably want a bit more timing for methanol than petrol so keep that in mind too!!

Here's a log from yesterday M4 was 25% richer than Saturday M5 was 5% leaner than M4. When m4 was fitted it wasn't happy as you can see. Then green line is the TPS hooked up, but does seem to show any movement until the throttle is cracked wide open. When the TPS was hooked up with the engine stopped & ign. on,the TPS registers with fine movements.

while i was looking at logworks i noticed the settings i had before for the map sensor..... so if you wanted to connect a map sensor to the LM1
14.1kpa = 0.00volts
103.9kpa = 5.00volts
now for your log ....
honestly i don't really know whats happening .... can you upload your most current bin file and i'll have a look see at it ....

There is a map sensor in the log, it's not the car map but the one built in to the LMA-3. This is a copy of the last bin.

ok from what i can see you've used my $12P ecotec v6 ve and spark tables for this thing ?
probably better than the 202 tables but not right for vn-vr motor ....
can you tell me what the code number is on the stock chip that came out of this car so i can find some probably tables and i'll make you a bin file to hopefully get you on the right track!
