Got the commodore fuel tank all sorted and into the van, it connects to the under side of the filler pipe in the above picture, so I just had to weld up the old hole and add the new piece of pipe and we are in business.... still some breather lines to route and such, but they don't stop me running the motor

so once that was in and connected I decided I needed to see if the motor would actually run after converting 808 wiring loom to 424 and also fitting camira ignition module and reluctor dizzy....

I initially had some teething problems ... ie. I hadn't setup the tune properly for the changed reference angle for camira module  so since changing that and removing a few transmission error codes its running much much smoother! I also put a temp exhaust system on it too, which has a nice deep note, note sure it would pass enginnering tests though lol!

the spark would have to have been 50 degrees out if it was using the hall effect module reference angle?

yeah probably, plus or minus me moving the dizzy at the same time :P

after speaking with VL400 and working out that $11 doesn't like 10 degrees reference angle (timing doesn't move from 10 ever) we've gone to 90 degrees and zero cranking advance and zero on the dizzy .... so far so good, all seems to be working properly, so hopefully that's the end of it!

Why are you running a 424?

well a 424 is a VS V8 auto computer, works with the VS wiring loom in the rest of the bedford, plus its a good way to run $11P for something different to $12P in everything else i mostly touch!

only thing im really missing is the electronic auto, but hey what of mine is ever run of the mill :)

Other than some paint, the radiator mounting bracket is all sorted now along with the mondeo twin thermo fans properly mounted on the radiator, everything uses the original mounts for the radiator and the holes already in it for mounting the fan, so in the future there shouldn't be an issue if I needed to replace it.

The shiny black piece between the fans and the radiator is a piece of alloy angle and the fan shroud sits over the lip and then self tapping screws hold it in place.

The two bolts come out on each side then the radiator slides up and out as normal for a commodore.

so this means another job is ticked off the list!

on a side note to it, I tried to work out a way to make enough room for an A/C condenser but it just wasn't going to happen, so its either going to be a condenser mounted under the floor somewhere or probably not able to have A/C! ..... I believe there is enough room under the van to mount one so hopefully I don't have to go without lol! will have to look into options down the track.

Neat as! Those fans fit way better than the various Falcon dual fan setups.

Hopefully the aircon can be squeezed in somewhere.
