So Bosch wrote it into the program for testing purposes!! and told Volkswagon not to use it!! This is turning out to be a real can of worms. Looks like quiet a few guilty parties involved.

Apparently auto manufacturers are immune from criminal prosecution under that EPA legislation, they'll have to get them for tax evasion or something :twisted:

But at this stage we don't actually know if those cars fall under the relevant Aussie EPA standards?

I think all that has been confirmed at this stage is that the so called cheating software defeated the Californian smog test which is the toughest test in the world.

but they also say they were 35 times over the limit. its doubtful that the Californian smog tests are 35 times stricter than others?

regardless of whether an aussie version passes or not, I dare say they will be wanting to remove the issue of having the defeat software in there!
