pron time!

Greg was over raiding some bits out of the vacationer for the VN.

we had a long chat about all kinds of crap, even about Chog lol.

Anyway, I did some more.

So I used a heat gun to heat up the heads to about 80º and let them cool for few hours before re-torquing the bolts for the final time.

I just blocked the water pump inlets and forced hot air through the water ports in the head. alternating back and forth until it was uniformly heated to what would be operating temps.

Worked a treat

washed and placed in all the rockers, just to keep them clean and out of the way.

All the heads got a final torque down after heat cycling the heads. The bolts loosened up slightly after the heat cycle.

again only placing the stuff until I can finish the pushrods and stuff. looks like an engine :D

Also torqued up the cam bolt using the torque + angle method. So much better than a single torque in the workshop manual. it was much more stable doing that way.

specs were 74ft-lb +90º

yeah the vacationer will live on. certainly that T5 will, will have its 3rd engine once it sees the VP S.

The vacationer was almost nothing original when I think about it, nothing but the main body and carpet was original in that. oh and the mid exhaust section and front head light globes.

pulled the cruise control wiring out.

thats it on the seat. I found the exec harness has provisions for electric antenna already and just requires the switch, a patch hardness and a module, obviously the electric antenna too.

I don't really want it but the cruise control cluster switches never came without electric antenna.

yep, they are late ones and I went one step further using VR pedestals that have needle bearings.

Also ecotec rocker bolts from ZZP. The late heads use smaller bolts. I love the late buick stuff, upgrade options galore!

Too bad they only have one set left in the country after I bought these. They are a great item for these engines.

yep, just checked partfinder, the single piece locator plates came out from engine VH1275084 in the VP, the rockers and bolts are the same as VR however the pedestals with the needle type bearings in them that vlad has only came out in the VR. i like the idea of those needle type bearings. much goodness.

They are literally just cap screws that are available from any engineering suppliers store.
