OK so I'm about to get some new valve springs/retainer/locks and seal and considering trying some autolite copper spark plugs.

The iridium plugs in it have done about 49,000km so due for replacement. Anybody have any experiences with Autolite plugs and should I go with the standard heat range or try one step colder? Personally I don't see any reason to go colder but others may think otherwise?

from tests ive done and seen just stick with regapped stock copper plugs around 1.1, iridiums are bad for FI.

Yeah looking at standard plugs this time not the iridiums. Just wondering about the autolite plugs.

I think the current iridiums are gapped at 1.3mm and no signs of misfire at this stage.

Not enough boost lol. Dunno about autolite, ive tried bosch super 4 before, no change as it's only providing different paths to earth, i think those would maybe help with weaker spark systems but it's mainly providing longer life like iridium by wearing multiple contact points, I got a cheap set of Brisk spark plugs once, i didn't notice any different in results logged but maybe 1 degree of timing if i was lucky. Ive just put in new plugs in mine and denso have V Groove copper plugs, if you get stock ecotec genuine holden plugs these are what they sell now also. On the bench you can see the spark loves having the gap in the middle and makes 2 arcs vs stock spark which is all broken up into tiny little sparks, i dont know if this is good or bad i havn't noticed any difference atm from testing.

Yeah I was running V gap electrode plugs n/a and they definitely worn't any worse than stock plugs.

I might try some of the Autolite plugs, they are cheap enough so it won't cost much.

see how they go then, would be interesting to see the spark jump vs stock and v groove.

Ordered all the bits this morning :)

What are people using to change the valve springs with the heads on the car? I've done valve springs etc with the heads off but this will be a first for me.

Hunk of angle iron and a meter of 10mm soft rope.

Tie a socket to one end of the rope and feed the other end into the spark plug hole. Once it is all in, bring the engine slowly towards TDC and it holds the valves in place. Release the keepers with the angle iron - drill 2 holes, 1 for the rocker stud and the other for the keepers.
