O2 weirdness

Post by monaro308 »

Hi fellas,i'm back from working on the HQ Coupe and decided to have a play with the delco'd HJ coupe again
After having it parked at my mums for about a month,i hooked up my laptop to do some data logging and noticed that my O2 sensor readings are misbehaving, or more like its not swinging back and forth like it should.
I thought maybe the O2 sensor had died, replaced that....same readings.
I then checked the lead going back to D7 in the ecu....all ok.
It has/had the single wire O2 sensor and then thought of the earth problems they used to have.So i wired it up as a 2 wire sensor and used a 2 wire O2 sensor.....same deal
I have been using EFI live 4 on the 082 VR manual ECU with the Ostrich 2.0 and T/pro5 all year with the BLCF5084 cal on my homemade EFI 5lt.
I even gave VL400's 12S/P a whirl for the last 2 months and all was fine.
This has me baffled at the moment and i even went back onto my old lappy with T/pro4 and the BLCF cal thinking i might have a bug in the latest T/pro and all of the above.
Any ideas out there?

Another thing....the latest build version of T/Pro5 i noticed there isn't a disable checksum box???
What do i do there?
Cheers all ...Mario

Yep will do Jayme,I'll get some on the weekend.
Did you want an EFI-live log or T/pro?
My bloody isp is playing up and log on by pot luck.

Hmmm i tried to upload my logged T/P5 file and got "The extension xdl is not allowed"
Do i have to rename the file or am i just plain dumb

I tried an old 082 and BLCF file and it all seemed to be working ok this time, but recorded a few knock retarding which i've never had before. This was an old file and i'll go back to VL's 12P stuff and start again.
cheers...mario

You will need to zip the file before uploading, can then attach anything you want :)

Thanks VL....i forgot about zipping files.
I know its the wrong section but i'm starting fresh again because i have files everywhere and
This is what i have - standard 5.0lt engine,VR 082 ECU,Ostrich 2.0 have been using the BLCF 5084 bin modded to my EFI setup and T/pro 5
Which files do you recommended to start fresh again inc bubble/tracing/ADX file for new dash etc etc.
Is there a BLCF $12P version as i can only see a BLCF.cal in the files.
Sorry to be a pain, but eager to get back onto the HJ
cheers and thanks....mario

In the 12P V110 zip there is a file called 'OSE_$12P_BLCF_V8.BIN'. There is an ADX and XDF with bubble tracing in the zip also.

Just a quicky back on the O2 sensors, the other day when i was having trouble getting readouts on the NB stock O2 which is about 6 inches back from the flange ,im running a motec PLM WB about 8 inches further down, this was showing around 13.5 at idle.....just to be safe i borrowed an Autronic WB and set that up in the tail pipe....this showed 18.5 :o
This is when the fun started....which was right????
I put the autronic on my VT at the tail pipe....all good....the suzuki C50.....all good.....the VE ssv.....all good.....back on the HJ.....not good.Surely the motec can't be out and i haven't been trying to tune the HJ with a faulty WB :sad2:
So imagine my EFI-live dash display showing 13.9...the motec 13.5 the autronic@ 18.5
Lucky the neighbours weren't home as you could hear the swearing and engine revs coming from my shed, meanwhile i'm gassing myself sensless in my my closed shed :wall:
Then i unscrewed the motec O2 and screwed in the Autronic O2.......hmm same reading as the motec
Must have had air leaks down stream at muffler joins or something even though i checked the other pipe, these are seperate pipes and no balance pipe.
2 days of confusion tells me close to the exh flange is best.
I also remember people with Gen3's putting on aftermarket extractors then coming back with lean O2 DTC's....all traced back to most of the O2 bosses being too far back.
