Re: VN Production Saloon
Nah mate that'd be cheating. The HM made headers off the sv3800 showed up on a few models VN - VR including dealer specials, rare this side of the ditch but i've seen a set on a SV VR ute even but the owner wasn't about to part company with them. They can still be purchased from HM headers but being stainless are out of my meagre budget with postage across the Tasman on top of the price - not worth it dollars for horses.

Re: VN Production Saloon
Bit of an update, Friday night i drained the gas tank and stuck the fuel out hose into a bottle of injector cleaner and even ran the motor momentarily with the stuff - about half the gas in there had been in for about six months - then filled it up with 98 ready for the final preseason practice.
First session we were the first to get sent out basically as wheel packers and i had no way of telling if my new right rear tyre made any difference as every aspect of the car was downright horrible.
Second session with slight tyre pressure adjustments it felt a bit better but far from as good as the first practice which was on a nicely packed track. I was wearing shitloads of shrapnel of the back wheels of my mates VL and coming through two i blinked and went higher than was a good idea, hit a rut and it stepped out into the marbles and knew instantly "fuck i'm going in" and slammed the wall hard - got back on the gas just as i hit full side on and managed to keep moving bouncing of a couple of times before getting clear and onto the straight with the car shaking like shit. Kept going on the off chance it would clear once it chucked the dirt ouf of the rims, the shimmy from the steering improved but as i got further into the throttle the vibrations from the arse end got more violent so i headed for the infeild - no points involved so save doing more damage.
Damage - right front rim munted and a chunk out of the sidewall of the tyre, right rear tyre looks ok but probably a bent rim (its still on the trailer) and hopefully the axle is ok - the panhard bar still looks straight as does the bottom arm up front - bloody hope so as its made up from two to get more camber/castor. The rest is panel which i was planning on doing this week any way The other side with last seasons scars

Re: VN Production Saloon
Pushed the VR wagon forward from beside the shed, and finished off the edges and mowed the lawns this arvo then got freinds who were over for dinner to help push this arounf from behind the house, its gonna donate its doors and probably rear quarters.
Unfortunately the rear panel and framework has almost as much cancer in it as the one on the racecar which has been beaten to shit over two seasons and is falling apart, however i've had this at the back of the firewood in the leanto behind the shed for this very purpose for a year or so
Four and a half days till first race meeting of the season, i've got the week off work but front brakes to do on the wifes car and a full brake job to do on a 4wd Hilux and a family commitment.
thats me behind the eight ball.

Nope, got the doors peeled back to virtually skin too, the only door i leave the side intrusion bar in is left rear, not a bad spot for a couple of kilos and it protects my battery box from 'rubbin'Holden202 wrote:geez not much panels left on that thing
A good mate showed up for a visit with his missus a bit after 5 and sent his missus home to pick up his angle grinder so while he did the last door i fixed the trailer ramp and off loaded 34G and
its bloody ridiculous, i went and brought 15 this morning, my mate had a couple with his and theres about half of one left - need a sabre saw!Holden202 wrote:i reckon you'd go through a few of them 1mm cutting discs!
