They go by many names, P01, P10, P12, P59, E38, VPW, '0411 etc.

You do need 12v for write. But it should ID and read without it. Check your connections, keep your cables short, check you ulink config and make sure it can ID and then read a valid bin before attempting write.

I am thinking maybe the cable length maybe my current issue. I used some IPC wires (series 100) as they slide right over the pogo pins. I solder them to some breadboard jumpers to connect to the u-link harness. It is probably 14". I did this before I saw a post about keep them short. I am guessing 14" maybe too long?

In the software I cant ID the flash. I just get reset 1 with the BDM off. I saw a video from him showing how to fix a hard brick by powering up pin 12 (CE). When I do that the BDM comes on but I get "Unknown flash type! Report these values http://www.usbjtag.com/phpbb3 ffffh, ffffh" There are now four 411 options in the software, none of them work. I signed up for his forum to post about it, just waiting for access.

I am using the blue connector with my bench harness to power it up. I may try to solder pins to the board and see if it can ID the flash.

I can't remember exactly, but I think you can slow down the BDM software. It solved a problem I had with long leads. I think I made a post about that somewhere on this forum...

I have the cables short now. Still no dice "http://www.usbjtag.com/phpbb3 ffffh, ffffh" Still waiting to get approved to that forum. With the short cables it goes right in to BDM on now. I even tried to read a good intel p59, no luck.

The pinout I am using

You need 12v to write the intel chip. AMD chip does not need it at all (and will be damaged), and both chips should ID and read without it.

Do you have the right software configuration for the chip and for the P59 on the PC side? viewtopic.php?p=99608#p99608

You are correct. In USB BDM NT at top middle of screen you will see three drop downs... Range, Speed, and Hardware ID. What you need to do is try dropping the speed down one at a time until you see a change. Sometimes if the speed is too fast you will see Unknown Flash Type. Trying slowing this speed down and see how that changes things.
