Hard brick P59 recovery?

Post by DodgeZ »

Anyone have the steps before I spend money on a flasher?

This has a lot of details...

Looks like you need one of these. https://www.usbjtag.com/shopping/#!/u-L ... /168869167 and some pins.

What is the pinout and settings for the flash tool? I assume you need to flash your working bin? Thanks

Yep one of those. Lots of info in this thread viewtopic.php?t=6215 also on that companies forum and youtube page. They tend to call it the 411 based on the last 3 digits of the most common P01 service number. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vNw7D10Znmo

I think the app is updated now and it'll all just work as is but if it doesnt recognise the chip you may need to do this viewtopic.php?p=96378#p96378

Yeah, I should have been goolging 0411. I am not real sure on the power. It looks like the 3D print has the part for the 12 volt. I read some where adding 12 volts to the AMD version will kill it. I have no idea if this p59 is Intel or AMD, it is a 2003 Escalade built late 2002. hardware number 12570558

Some of the links are broke now. Its like maybe this is what folks were linking to https://www.usbjtag.com/jtagnt/ECU/ecu411.php

Yes, I recall only the intel needs 12v. You don't need to 3d print anything, the header is easily accessible, but you can 3d print if you want. I put pins in the header on mine and come from the other side so that its easy to plug dupont style connectors on to it. I have also directly soldered. All options work. You can see the chip when you have it open, so just look at it to see if its Intel or AMD. I think it will be AMD on a P59 though. 12v is only required during programming, so to be safe get it identifying the chip first before even thinking about writing. Then try and write without 12v connected.

I started to take it out. I am assuming you have to break the potting to do so? I already have it printed out. I have a nice printer, so it is easier for me.

p59 doesnt have potting, only screws and a rubber seal which does not break and is re-usable.

I see the seal runs down. I just took a BCM apart and it slide the pins out. The PCM has the pins sealed to the front panel. Thanks... I have an intel p59

Ok good. I am not sure what you are describing or why you are comparing the BCM as thats different hardware but it sounds like you got the P59 figured out. There are pics here which show the whole PCB and connector coming out together for P01/P59, which is all you need to get to the locations for BDM. viewtopic.php?p=92029#p92029

This wiki page also has some info: https://github.com/PcmHammer/PcmHammer/wiki/BDM

The main thing is the step-by-step at the end. Every time I used the BDM app I had to re-learn how to use it (it's not the most user-friendly thing) so I took some notes last time.
Please don't PM me with technical questions - start a thread instead, and send me a link to it. That way I can answer in public, and help other people who have the same question. Thanks!

I had some time to play with it. I can't get it to ID the chip. Do you need to solder on 12volts (shown on the u-link website) or is just the one pin? The picture he uses to show how to add 12volts to the board is different that, not sure if it is a p01 not a p59. Can you just power it with the blue connector?
