That's fixed me not being able to connect to my VS Series 3 V8. Thought it was just me before, apparently not. Windows8 told me it had stopped it from opening due to it being untrusted or something, told it to open anyway and it was all good.

Cheers.

Good to hear  It will be detected as VT due to it being A6 code and the tech2 identifiers being the same between VS 3 and VT.

Bugger me I'm gobsmacked with what you guys have done. Even releasing a new version OSE and here is what I have

I know what arduino is but its simply way above me. I am more of an ol knucklhead guy. Very interested in what you have that will display the info from the PCM, but it must remain kind of hidden to keep my interior looking standard

Hey JAYME I have a mate who owns a sheetmetal shop, Cad design a shroud of some sort and i'll get it knocked up for you (or you can jam it in the "set" button hole in the centre of the dash)

Further Question, I have two BCM/Keys (neither of which match the PCM) - one is series 1 VT SS and the other is Series 2 VT V6. Is there a massive difference? As long as I have Cruise, Central, windows which I'm sure they both have then I am good to go.

haha yeah thats only the prototype... ill be making up a better display board soon, but its not even going in a commodore :P its now already been installed into a ford escort with twin turbo and 4L60E box. got the phone handset cable up the steering column and shifting buttons on the steering wheel. looks great, just need to go to some private road and test the shifting out.

Out of curiosity, when the key is in the ignition and the metal ring around the base is struck by the key head to disable the security the car will start - Will the car continue to run if the key head is removed?

Basically I would like to keep the security on but use the 55 year old original key if possible. Any ideas?

you might be best of disabling vats in the tune (anti-theft) and then you wont need the ring, or the original key. then install after market security or kill switch instead.

Can removing Vats be done with a tech2?

no, but its not hard for someone with the correct gear. You'll need to pull the memcal out of the pcm and either send it off to someone or purchase the gear to do it yourself (UV eprom eraser and gq-4x programmer). Or if you bought one of these http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1273 the1 might be able to put a vats cleared tune on there for you before he sends it and then you'd just need to swap it in to the pcm and could keep the original memcal.

if you just wanted it for the security you could probably hide the keyhead in the glove box or something and make a setup so you can plug it in and it'll do its thing, then just take it out when you want to secure the car ? that way you could then probably just wire up the rest to the old key barrel....

i'm not sure if Tech2 can sort VATS, but normally we just modify the tune and re-burn it to the memcal with VATS off. (unless you have realtime tuning gear)

Can you do that with a MAFless tune too?
